#4 Essay - Social/Cultural group and their media

They are many types of social and cultural group in this world and the way they communicate sometimes are different than groups. This week essay is about four groups that I chose and how the communicate using media.

 

First group is Clique. the most cliche clique is in high school. from the age 15-18 years old. the way they use their media  is depend on the generation their in. for example if they were in 21st centuries, the media they use is social media. Myspace, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr etc. Gossip and news about anything will go there first. rather than use school paper or just spread the gossip the traditional way. This make the clique use less verbal communication.

The second group is Amish. this minority cultural group live in USA, they didn't involve with outside world. The Amish still use verbal communication, also traditional media such as, hand written letter. They did use phone, but only to adult for important business, installation phone at home is banned. they only can use the public phone that specially build at the neighbuorhood. Mobile phone and Internet remains controversial among Amish because they said it was "evil".  Some modern did have mobile phone and internet access "under the radar"

My Third group is The Inuit people.  they were a group of minority society in Alaska and Canada. They live in the rural place of Alaska, in the cold. many of them live by fishing and hunting to survive. They were technology-advance than other minority. Each homes have a satellite phone in case of emergency. The Inuit are all semi-nomadic. the move when needed. The media they use is verbal communication, satellite TV or radio.

 

The final group is The Upper East Side social group. upper east side always related to elite social group. Upper East Side have the most expensive living cost in USA to date. the media they use will be the internet. Definitely everyone at Upper East Side have a mobile phone, and every gadget they can find. verbal communication maybe a little bit low.  Social media will be number one in elite social group because in social media they will get all the details about everything.
