1.Social Network
social
network definitely one of the most important media form this decade.
The social network use as a interaction between a group of people who
share a common interest.. then
it is appropriate to define social networking as a form of media. In
this case the storage and transmission of channels would refer to the
people who hold and share information with others that they identify
with.
2.Billboard
The use of signs to communicate a marketer’s message places advertising
in geographically identified areas in order to capture customer
attention. The most obvious method of using signs is through
billboards, which are generally located in high traffic areas. Outdoor
billboards come in many sizes, though the most well-known are large
structures located near transportation points intending to attract the
interest of people traveling on roads or public transportation. Indoor
billboards are often smaller than outdoor billboards and are designed to
attract the attention of foot traffic. For example, smaller signage in airports, train terminals and
large commercial office space fit this category.
3. Television

Television
maybe is the most constant media form. It been with us since the 40s.
When considering the effects of television on its viewers, we must agree
that, generally, it is the choice of each individual what he / she will
watch or not, as it is with the consumption of any other media. We
cannot blame the television and the contents of its channels for any
negative influence on the audience. Also, we must keep in mind that
there are individuals within the society, like children, mentally
disabled people, which cannot be held responsible for their own actions.
Their choices are not always for their own best.TV like any other
popular media, has many of its advantages, and it
seems that life would be boring without it. But as the amount available
contents on TV increases, one must be careful in choosing the ones
valuable and helpful to him / her. On my own skin I have experienced the
feeling of addiction to TV, but I would say that now, I try to spend my
time engaging in more creative and interacting activities.
4. Posters
For
200 years, posters had been displayed everywhere to communicate a
message. People always thought that posters is about movies, concert
etc. but the are many types of posters. motivational posters, travel
poster, railway posters, books posters. politics and propaganda posters
and many more. A poster is any piece of printed paper designed to be attached to a wall or vertical surface. Typically posters include both textual and graphic
elements, although a poster may be either wholly graphical or wholly
text. Posters are designed to be both eye-catching and informative.
Posters may be used for many purposes. They are a frequent tool of advertisers, propagandists, protestors and other groups trying to communicate a message. Posters are also used for reproductions of artwork, particularly famous works, and are generally low-cost compared to original artwork.
5. Blogs
With the rapidly increasing popularity of both reading and creating
blogs online, surveys have undertaken to study the phenomenon and
demographics in clumps these days in efforts to get a firm grasp on what
may have to be considered a new form of media.Bloggers use blog as the medium to communicate also to advertise. They have the power to persuade their reader. Later to be reported in the media, analysis showed some interesting
figures. In the first three months of 2005, three-tenths of all internet
users in the United States (and thus approximately one-sixth the
population of the United States!) visited blogs. Political blogs were
found the most popular, and blog visitors were seen to have visited
twice as many websites as blog avoiders. Blog visitors also participate
in more online surveys, and shop online far more frequently.
6. Newspaper
A newspaper is a publication containing news and information and advertising, usually printed on low-cost paper called newsprint.
It may be general or special interest, most often published daily or
weekly. The first printed newspaper was published in 1605, and the form
has thrived even in the face of competition from technologies such as
radio and television. Recent developments on the Internet are posing
major threats to its business model, however. Paid circulation is
declining in most countries, and advertising revenue, which makes up the
bulk of a newspaper's income, is shifting from print to online; some
commentators, nevertheless, point out that historically new media such
as radio and television did not entirely supplant existing.
7. Video Games
video games are a medium flat out. Just because the majority of game
creators have BARELY explored what video games are capable of does not,
in any way, reduce them to "toys" in the sense of the word that was
used. Toys themselves are works of art, why should we care who their
audience may be?
8. Radio
Since its beginning in the early 1920’s, radio
has taken on the role of one of the worlds most widely used media
forms, as more time is spent listening to radio than any other medium.
As most media forms, the primary role of radio is communication. Though
as technology advances faster and faster each year, commercial radio is
being forced to keep up with the times, and is taking this almost
primitive media source to new levels of the digital age. With the
introduction and future plans of Digital Audio Broadcasting, the
industry is aiming to not just gain listeners, but fans, and offers a
whole new look at the world of radio. Although the role of radio does
not change as a communicative source of media, these changes see radio
taking on new roles as information and entertainment are presented in
much more effective, accessible, friendly and modern ways, and also
reflect the affects the new media has on society.
9. Internet
The Internet is all of humankind's' greatest achievements
rolled into one: TV, radio, written media, and is extremely easy to search for, access and browse
through. Granted, hackers and viruses are everywhere, as are phony sites, but today's antivirus,
firewall and anti-scam applications are more than capable than repelling and defending against these
threats.
10. Public Speaking
In public speaking, as in any form of communication, there are five basic elements, often expressed as "who is saying what to whom using what medium with what effects?"
The purpose of public speaking can range from simply transmitting
information, to motivating people to act, to simply telling a story.
Good orators should be able to change the emotions of their listeners,
not just inform them. Public speaking can also be considered a discourse community. Interpersonal communication
and public speaking have several components that embrace such things as
motivational speaking, leadership/personal development, business,
customer service, large group communication, and mass communication.
Public speaking can be a powerful tool to use for purposes such as
motivation, influence, persuasion, informing, translation, or simply ethos.
